Birthday Party Theme: First Bee Day

The first birthday party. So special and so bittersweet. It feels like a “We Made It” moment.

We chose the First Bee Day theme for our little one because the first toy she took to, was a tiny little bee rattle. Nothing will make me forget the wonder she had when she connected with play.

Mom-to-Mom: I will do a smash cake, but for everyone else, I will be picking up a Costco plain cake and adding the toppers I have listed below to save on the birthday budget.

1. The Party Essentials

In this section, I’m going to keep it as a simple checklist. These are the must have items for any party!

  • The Invitations: I love a good digital invitation to save money. I typically build mine out in Canva, and then send it via text. However, I love a good paper invitation, something about it just makes me happy. Here is the linked First Bee Day theme paper invitation I would choose.

  • Tableware Base: If you stick around to read my other blog posts, you will come to find I love a good solid color for tableware. I feel it saves money and adds an elevated feel look to a children’s party.

  • Activities to Keep Little One’s Busy:

  • Goodie Bags: I like to provide goodie bags that are consumable, or a “higher” dollar item. There is nothing worse than coming home from a party with new small toys that are choking hazards.

2. The Decorative Pieces

The fun part of the party, decorating! Below I have curated the backdrops, balloons, table accents, cake decorations and toppers. In this blog post, I have only included a handful of links, but my Storefront has many other items you can pick and choose from.

  • Backdrop & Balloons: We went with the Bee Balloon Garland Arch above!

  • Table Accents: Think yellow table runner with white tablecloths, flower and/or balloon centerpieces!

  • Cake & Food Toppers: To go along with the theme, we did a gold number 1 candle, for her smash cake. We bought the cake for everyone from Costco, and dressed it up with bee theme cake decorations.

3. Outfits for the Birthday Star!

Just a couple looks for the birthday star to look their best on their day!
